books

This year, Jason made a goal for himself: read 25 books. He made a list of what these 25 books are going to be--and he doesn't want to think about deviating from the list. I decided that I would keep track of the books I read this year. But not make a list of what books to read. How are we doing on these "projects"?

Jason: not doing so hot. He didn't tell me his exact number, but I don't think he's up to 20 yet.

Me: there are 45 books on my list. Two I'm not done with yet, and one I didn't finish (yes, it should probably not be on the list, but I read part of it so it's staying). And really, Jason could try to make a case for me having so many because I've read 12 YA graphic novels and 5 YA books, but that's only 17 books total. Plus, one of his books was The Great Gatsby, which I consider a YA book because I read it in 11th grade. :) And anyway, I'm done with the graphic novels for now. YA books, I will never be done with. I love YA books. (Plus, I got a couple at ALA that I want to read soon.)

Seriously, by the end of August, I will have read double the amount of books that Jason would like to read for the entire year.

I have made a book goal for myself for this year: read all of Jane Austen's books. I've already read Pride and Prejudice (with and without zombies) and Northanger Abbey (which I read last summer). I just checked out Sense and Sensibility.

Also, one of the books I got at ALA is part of a series. I decided I'd read the whole series. I decided this not realizing that there were 25 books in it. And if they're anything like the one I have, they are not short books. Has anyone read any Margaret Weis books? Am I going to enjoy them? All I know is that they're fantasy, and I've never been terribly fond of that genre. But I'm willing to give these a go.

I was going to read Jane Austen's books... but then I got sidetracked. I guess it doesn't count if you just watch the movies, does it? -Megan
