What I learned yesterday

When fabric gets caught in the feed dogs on a sewing machine, and you want to yank it out, take the needle out of the machine first. I, um, stabbed myself last night. I was making a tree skirt and the fabric got stuck (again). I tried what I had done the first time it got stuck, but that didn't work. So I took the foot off and started yanking on the fabric. In an upward motion. Toward the needle. At the same time the fabric came free, my thumb went up and jammed into the needle (thankfully it was the pad of my thumb and not the nail). It was bleeding pretty good. And it was so shaky, tingly, and in pain, I couldn't even open a band-aid. So Jason had to put one on for me. Now I have a small red spot on my thumb and it feels like I have a bad bruise. And what was I doing when it got stuck? Sewing the stars onto the skirt? (I'll have a picture up later.) No. Making freaking buttonholes. I already hated making buttonholes, but now I hate it even more.
