I just made my first "sale" on Etsy. While in Des Moines at Christmas, I told a friend I would make her a pair of wrist warmers. I finished them today. They were so easy that I have no doubt that I will be able to knit gloves and mittens with ease. She suggested I list them in my Etsy shop. So now, if and when people look at my shop, they will see that I have a sale. They were listed as "Custom order for Sarah" so no one would swoop in and order them for the low low price of 25 cents. I had to put a price. Sarah, if you're reading this, if you send me a quarter, I will laugh. And keep it for laundry. :) Here is a picture of the left one, and the start of my career as a hand model. (Notice that my fingernails look nice and not chewed!)

Another point of woo-ness is that Bush will be gone in (as I type) 13 hours. I have the day off work, my Obama t-shirt (it cost me a $30 donation to Obama), and a bottle of champagne.
Point of non-woo-ness: I am cursed. In late October, 2 1/2 months after I started, there was a fire at the Headquarters library. On Friday, 2 1/2 months after I was reassigned to the Spring Lake branch, their heater broke. It was between 15 and 20 degrees outside. It was around 65 degrees inside. The cold outside made it impossible for it to get any warmer inside. Joy. I walked into the quiet study room--it was 60 degrees in there. Three hours after we opened, we closed. Employees were sitting in the work room wearing coats. We got an email on Friday afternoon informing us that county maintenance doesn't think they'll be able to fix the heater before January 31st. I have been reassigned for the second time in 5 months. I will be working at the East Regional branch. At my interview, they were one of the branches represented; they still have not filled that position. The good new for East is that I will only be there for a couple of weeks.
Point of woo-ness #3: I have lost 5.8 pounds in the last 2 weeks. WOO! I aim to lose the 18 pounds I lost over the summer (then gained back after moving), and then some.

congratulations on your "sale." nice work!
Yay, I just got around to reading this...sad that grad school takes me away from blogs. I'm really happy to have been your "buyer"! Now, whenever I encounter a freezing library, I don't shirk away in fear...I simply put on the handwarmers and voila! Just like magic. Thanks :).
