I have reconsidered my decision to become a professional UHaul driver. If I never drive another UHaul again through the mountains, construction, or toll booths, I will be a happy girl. A very happy girl. Today we left at a little after 7. We stayed last night at a hotel right behind a gas station that I'd actually been in before--when Tara, Lindsey, and I went to Lexington to check out the library school at UK. Weird. We drove through (in case you couldn't tell from the opening) lots of construction. Lots. And the truck didn't want to go very fast in the mountains. At one point the fastest I could drive was 35. Seriously. But, we still made good time and managed to make it to Fayetteville in a little over 13 hours. And it was a fairly uneventful trip. Although, I did have to pull over at a rest stop shortly after the first tunnel. I felt like I was flying through the tunnel (actual speed: 35) and after (actual speed: 45). So I needed to stop and get some sort of bearings. Now we're at the Econo Lodge in Fayetteville. I do not recommend it. It's kind of creepy. There are people who have couches on the little patios outside their doors. We think they're military and are just here for a few weeks.
On the plus side, I got an appointment to go see our new apartment tomorrow morning and sign the lease and all that good stuff. And when I say new apartment, I mean it. It's a brand new building. Yay!

All I know about NC is that it is where people here go to the beach. Glad to hear you made it through those mountains alive!
Sounds like you had a fun trip! ; ) I can't wait to read about your new apartment.
