it's official

Matt and Emmett will not be friends.  They were both out in the hallway and Emmett looked very interested.  He was approaching slowly and sniffing.  Matt was slowly backing away until I caught him.  I tried petting both animals in the hopes that this would calm them both.  It did not work.  Emmett got a little too close for Matt, who then hissed.  Twice.  Emmett backed up very quickly and ran into Mom's room.  I picked Matt up and put him back in my room.  Matt and the bathtub, however, are best buddies.  I put him in there tonight to try to help him cool down--it's ridiculously hot in my room--and he was moving all over, purring, and generally being happy.

I got all of the pieces for my Halloween quilt cut out.  I sewed the spider webs onto their pieces, and then sewed a couple of the pieces together!  Then it was time to quit for the day as I now have to iron and I was way too hot to be near an iron.

Yesterday was my last day at JoAnn.  Part of me will miss it: my coworkers, getting ideas of stuff to make, the customers I enjoy helping.  Part of me will not miss it at all: "I need to make curtains, how much fabric do I need?"  "Well, how big are your windows?"  "They're standard size windows."  Uh huh.  I was toying with the idea of getting a part time gig at the JoAnn in Fayetteville and just working on Saturdays or something.  Then one day, after dealing with truly heinous and idiotic people I decided that a 15% discount wasn't worth it.

Tomorrow I have to get up bright and early (so it's good that I'm still up at midnight) and call the library to make sure they've gotten my drug test results and see if they would like to discuss a start date (next week would be great).  Then I have to call about apartments, because the one Jason and I had applied for which was supposed to be available on the 9th has be rented.  Fab.  They don't have another 2 bedroom available until August 29th.  Again, fab.  I just want somewhere to live, and I'd prefer to move in this Saturday!!!  I think I'm going to have an ulcer soon.
