So I started making the Halloween quilt top on August 3rd. I cut out all the pieces and was happy. Here they are, nice and pretty on my cutting mat.
Then I started putting everything together. First I put the velvet ribbon "spider webs" on the green squares:
Then I sewed each row for the middle of the quilt together.
Then I sewed the two rows together to form the middle. I was quite happy with myself and how quickly this was coming along. I knew it wouldn't take a long time, because it's not a big quilt, just a wall hanging. But I was pleased anyway.
Tonight I got the entire top finished. I am so happy. It took me 2 days from beginning to the finish of the top. (That sentence barely makes sense, but I'm a librarian, not an English teacher.)
I'm pretty sure that if I had started this and just kept going, rather than break it up, I could've gotten everything done in one day. It just went that fast. Now I just have to pin it together with the batting and backing, quilt it, and put the binding on. I have the backing but not the batting. I'm debating whether or not I want to get that before I leave and just finish that much or wait. And I don't know if I want to hand quilt it or do it on my machine. Part of me really wants to go the machine route since I'd like to have it done by Halloween, but part of me thinks that I don't actually have a sewing machine meant for quilting, so maybe I shouldn't do that. My sewing machine is a regular one, so I'm worried that the quilt would get all bunchy and then somehow it would get ruined. And I think I've got this whole "moving" thing down. I have to call the UHaul people tomorrow and tell them I actually want it next Tuesday. I've already pushed my pick up date from tomorrow to Friday. I'm sure they'll love me. I'm sure Jason's parents love me, since I keep moving this date. Oh well. I wanted a start date for next week, but that wouldn't work out, so I'm not moving until next week. And if we get this apartment we're hoping for we can't move in until the 15th anyway. Talk about cutting it close.
I'm already having "final" dinners with people. And by "people" I mean my parents. Last night my mom and I went to Hessen Haus for dinner. I had the Jaegerschnitzel. I highly recommend it. Delish. Tonight my dad and I went to Zen. We had the Godzilla, Karma, and 2 Buddha Tempura rolls. Those Buddha ones are amazing! Tomorrow I'm going out for lunch with my mom and grandma. We're going to the Tavern because it's so yummy!! And the only Tavern to go to is the one in Valley Junction. The other ones are just want of bees. (Yes, I know that it's actually wannabe, but HROT has taken over my life.)
And speaking of things taking over lives, this is my new favorite game on Yahoo. It seems to be like the online DDR, but with a monkey. Dance! Let me tell ya, that disco level is hard.
