grr

I feel bad that I haven't posted anything for 3 weeks. So, um, here's a post!

I'm working my third Saturday in April. Seriously. Whatever. I really don't mind working on Saturdays, except that it breaks up my weekend and I feel all out of sorts on Monday when I have to go back after only one day off. I never have any plans, on account of I also never have any money. Here are some observations from working lots of Saturdays at SPL:

  • Bagman seems to only want websites with printable sudokus on Saturday
  • People wonder if we're open, even though they've already walked inside the library (this happens during the week, too)
  • People think it's acceptable to return the pencil you gave them by interrupting you while you're helping someone else, and that it's acceptable to wave said pencil in your face
What I truly don't get about the library is people who don't seem to realize that you can't check things out if you don't have a library card. Seriously?

Tiffany, Keri, Keri's kids (Jordan and Kaitlyn), and I all went out geocaching a couple of weeks ago (on the one Saturday in April I didn't work!). It was lots of fun. We focused on downtown Fayetteville, since it was Easter weekend, and we figured most people would be spending their Saturday spending money at the mall and the surrounding shopping centers. We found 8 things and had a heck of a time trying to figure out one cache--there were little poems to get the next coordinates. Then we didn't quite understand the final part, until Keri and Jordan figured it out when they got home. Next time, we'll get it! I'm trying to convince Jason to go out with me, but he thinks it sounds dumb and boring. And he wasn't especially intrigued after I came home from my unsuccessful find on April 3 all scratched up with bites from fire ants. There's one that I might go try to find during my lunch break today, because it's pretty close to the library, and not in a high traffic area.

I'm getting super excited about going to Chicago this summer for the ALA conference. It's my first time going to one, and I get to see a whole bunch of friends I haven't seen since last May! And I get to meet Julia's husband!
